Week 3 Instagram recap:
What are your favorite things? Do you have a hobby? Or five?
These are a few of mine–things that make me happy every dang time I see or touch them. Bullet journaling has changed me because it’s changed the way I view imperfection. Art has a way of doing that, too.
Find something you love and enjoy it today.
So, so true, @erincondren !
I never thought I was very creative when it came to visual art. Yeah, I can hack out a fun tune or a quirky story. But growing up in a family of artists I judged my abilities harshly.
Here’s what I now know. Art equals risk. We never know until we put pen to paper if what we’re creating will resemble anything close to the vision within our minds. It’s making ourselves confront our vulnerabilities and acknowledge that we are still a work in progress.
But more than that, art is embracing our imperfections. It’s celebrating our accomplishments even though the flaws are obvious. It’s forcing yourself to grow. It’s good.
Here’s my challenge for today: put on your big girl pants and get in touch with your creative side. Enjoy the process, celebrate the mess, and give yourself space to grow.
Living open handed. A friend (one of the many I’ve never met in person) uses this as her motto in the midst of seriously tough circumstances, and every time I see her posts they strike a chord in my soul.
This is the essence of contentment: embracing what we have in this moment with gratitude, yet without clinging or grasping.
Embrace the sun. Embrace the rain. Fully feel the pain. Enjoy the blessings, knowing they are *nothing* compared to the amazing future our Father has prepared for us.
Favorite. Quote. Ever.
Please notice the imperfections. 😉
The key to my heart? Art, art supplies, and flowers. Seriously. Give me art–especially made by YOU, as is this piece–and there’s no better way to make my day.
There is beauty all around. It’s not always as obvious as flowers from My Guy or art from a student, but it’s there nonetheless. Finding it is a choice we must continually make.
With only one week to go, this February is proving to be filled with goodness. And today it just got better.
I have a friend @kerinbeall (More than one, actually, but work with me here.) That friend has a February birthday (proof that good things *do* happen in February). That good friend tagged me in a giveaway on her February birthday and I won, just in time for a fresh mani for my baby sister’s wedding.
I *won* something. Thanks, @sophinailpolish !
One more week to go.
We’ve got this.
